Accused murderer Christine Zahn will, apparently, not face the possibility of the death penalty when her first-degree murder trial begins in late October of next year. The Greenview-area woman was also charged with armed criminal action in connection to the November, 2018, shooting of her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Derek Harrelson. Zahn appeared, on Monday, in a Laclede County courtroom on a change of venue from Camden County for her arraignment on the circuit court level. During the hearing, a waiver of the death penalty was also filed by the Missouri Attorney General’s Office which is prosecuting the case after Camden County Prosecutor Heather Miller recusing herself due to a conflict of interest. Zahn is free on bond. Her next court date will be for a pre-trial conference in early May with the trial scheduled to begin October 26th of next year.
