The Public Service Commission wants to know how recent federal tax reform will affect the rates paid by utility customers across the state. They’ve opened up a proceeding to determine what impacts the tax cuts will have. The PSC says they’re concerned that reductions in federal tax obligations could mean that existing rates over-compensate the utilities, making current rates unjust and unreasonable. They’ve asked all electric and gas corporations in the state as well as Missouri-American Water Company to respond to a number of questions by January 31st. The public is welcome to respond as well.
