The Laurie Board of Aldermen heard testimony, from several residents and business owners who were in Favor of Using a K 9 Program in the town. Laurie Police officers are all unanimous in their support of purchasing a K-9 Unit for the city of Laurie. Several people came to the meeting to speak on this matter. John Clifford of Laurie attended the meeting to voice his opinion that the city of Laurie should purchase a police dog for use when it comes to such activites that would warrent it, such as narcotics. Additionally Clifford presented letters that were submitted by many local owners and representatives from area businesses and organizations including; Laurie Health mart Pharmacy, the Central Bank of Lake of the Ozarks, The Bank of Versailles, Morgan County Clear, the Elks Lodge, and the American Legion. Clifford said he believed the Elks Lodge may possibly donate a significant amount if this plan were to be put into action.
