Two people remain hospitalized after Saturday’s accident involving a malfunctioning personal watercraft that blew up at the 65.9 mile mark on Lick Creek Cove Saturday afternoon. According to the Water Patrol, after being fueled at a marina, the Sea-Doo would not start and a spark within the engine compartment ignited fumes which caused the explosion. According to Sgt. Jerry Callahan of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Water Patrol Division:
60-year-old Ronald Dodson of Lee’s Summit and 19-year-old Blake Samskey of Olathe, Kansas were injured and taken to Lake Regional Hospital.
