During the veto session on Tuesday, a vote was held to override Governor Jay Nixon’s veto of the Constitutional Carry bill. Now, questions are starting to rise about the current ordinance in Lake Ozark. Under the current ordinance that was passed in June of 2014, open carrying a firearm is considered illegal, even for those who have a conceal-and-carry permit. Under the Constitutional Carry bill, most people can conceal a firearm without obtaining a permit to do so. Chief Gary Launderville says he still needs to sit down and read the specifics of the new bill to figure out what, if anything, needs to change under the city ordinance to remain in compliance. He also says that, until the bill goes into effect, the city will continue to enforce the current ordinance.
