The rain is welcome relief for Lake Area fire districts which remained busy this week battling several natural cover fires. Perhaps the busiest day of the week for the Rocky Mount District was Wednesday when personnel spent parts of the afternoon and evening taking care of two natural cover fires. Chief Kevin Hurtibise says a mobile home, a tractor and several boat trailers were damaged in the two fires. Hurtibise reminds those who do open burning that only yard waste and untreated wood os allowed to be burned. It’s also strongly encouraged that you only burn during the daylight hours and have a water source nearby until your burn is completely out.
