Rare Fire-Nado Seen In Laurie During Brush Fire Battle

All News Sunday, August 23rd, 2020

A rare fire-nado ravaged a hayfield near Laurie this week.

According to the Gravois Fire District, they were battling a hayfield fire when the dust devil like tornado spun out of nowhere.

Officials say it’s not as common in the mid-west as it is west of the Rocky Mountains, however they can occur if the conditions are right.

Firefighters with Sunrise Beach, Versailles, Ivy Bend and Stover helped put out the brush fire after the fire-nado stopped.
