Local Realtors and community leaders recently met with officials from F.E.M.A. They came to voice their concerns about possible inaccuracies associated with flood insurance rate maps. Congress will now weigh in as it debates a possible delay of reforms to the national flood insurance program. The senate passed a version of the homeowners flood insurance affordability act recently with Missouri Senators Roy Blunt and Claire Mccaskill voting for the bill that could delay rate increases for up to four years. The house is now considering a modified version of the bill. Many local Realtors are concerned that inaccurate mapping hurts property owners, real estate re-sells and new development.
