The new year is a time for making resolutions, and the American Red Cross is urging people to include them by making a tax-deductible donation — to the Red Cross.
Many people make charitable contributions at the end of the year as part of their holiday tradition, and the Red Cross depends on these donations to save lives, bring relief and give hope. Nationally, December Red Cross donations total roughly 20 percent of all non-disaster contributions from the public.
“As 2011 draws to a close, we are asking everyone to remember those who need help by contributing to the Red Cross,” said Mike Flanagan, communications manager of the Capital Area Chapter. “This end-of-year generosity will allow us to help a disaster victim, a member of the military, a hospital patient or someone learning to swim.”
And while 2011 has now ended, the Red Cross is still urging supporters to go to the website, redcross.org and make those donations now as part of their resolution.
