Volunteers from the Heart of Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross are helping residents affected by the flooding in Miller County. Red Cross staff and volunteers are working to meet the immediate needs of affected residents and support first responders. Assistance is also being provided in Maries and Phelps counties. In Pulaski County, a shelter is open at the St. Robert Community Center on JH Williamson Drive in St. Robert. Authorities say flash floods occur very suddenly as waters rise rapidly along streams or in low-lying areas. A flash flood watch means flooding is possible in the area. A flash flood warning means flooding is already happening or will occur soon.
