As you may be aware, this is Summer Weather Awareness Week, and while it’s important to remember to look out for yourself as well as the health of others during extreme heat, it’s also important to look out for animals. Donna Morris from Dogwood Animal Shelter says outdoor animals rely on us to keep them safe.
Never leave your animals in the car when it’s as hot as it’s been. When the temperatures get extremely hot, consider bringing your pets inside if possible. If that’s not a possibility, make sure they’ve got plenty of water – possibly even add some ice to it to help keep it cold. Morris says there are some other ways to help.
Relatively cooler temperatures could come later this week if we get rain in the forecast.
