Protecting what has long been an option for many visitors to Lake of the Ozarks but has also stirred up quite a bit of controversy over the past year will take center-stage in Osage Beach this next week. A meeting hosted by Expedia is expected to draw property owners and managers along with local state representatives to talk about the vacation rental industry. Diane Franklin, who represents the 123rd district, says it’s her intention to introduce a bill this session to protect our interests here in the Lake Area.
The issue was first raised last year after questions were brought up about whether residential properties rented out for vacations should be subjected to commercial property taxes and assessment rates. The meeting, at Tan-Tar-A in Osage Beach, is scheduled to begin at 5:30 on Thursday.
