A federal judge has turned down a stay of execution for Missouri death row inmate Michael Taylor. U.S. District Judge Beth Phillips has refused at this point to halt the execution. Taylor’s attorneys had argued Missouri’s one drug execution method could cause a painful death. Even though the request was denied, Judge Phillips is now considering another stay request, a claim that Taylor had an ineffective attorney at his original trial. Taylor faces execution just after midnight tonight for abducting, raping, and killing a 15 year old Kansas City girl in 1989.
