The Lake Ozark Board of Aldermen has approved a rezoning request that could clear the way for a new quarry along Highway 54. The request from Magruder was approved 5-2 by planning and zoning, but it took a tie-breaking vote from Mayor Gerry Murawski to gain board approval. Murawski says it could have a long-term benefit for the city.
At this time, the rezoning is the only thing finalized. Before a quarry can open, Magruder has to submit a plan for approval. Murawski says that gives the city some negotiating leverage.
The new quarry would be located in the area across the highway from the former Rick’s C-Store.
