Ice started falling on Friday afternoon and it wasn’t long before accidents began to occur. Police, Fire, Emergency Management and just about everyone around are asking residents to just stay home for the time being as the area roadways are falling apart. According to listeners on the Lake area traffic site, accidents have occurred on every major route in the area. Accidents are ranging from rollovers and multi-vehicle incidents to individuals spinning out into ditches and even into the woods. There have been reports of fire trucks crashing into one another on Bear Paw and police officers in ditches. One of the Camden County dump trucks flipped in Linn Creek. Even the interstates both 44 and 70 have been completely shut down at times and Highway 54 has been seeing similar results. Crews from all public works departments and MODOT are out treating the roads but it’s an uphill battle that may not be won until late Saturday.
