Not only is the Department of Transportation getting ready locally and statewide for winter weather, but the department also continues working on a long list of roadway projects. And with traffic staying at a constant level here in the Lake Area, a lot of work, according to Central District Engineer Bob Lynch, needs to be done at night.
Among the concerns are impaired drivers along with those who drive distracted. Lynch goes onto say the dangers of working on roadways is a problem 24 hours a day especially during the main work season. Just a week or so ago, there were three highway workers injured in a hit-and-run incident near Kansas City.
