There have been some major developments with the Rock Island Trail. Ameren Missouri has agreed to railbank a 145 mile section of the trail stretching from Windsor almost to Union where it will eventually connect to the Katy Trail. This means Missouri is now working towards an interconnected statewide trail network of over 450 miles. Brent hugh, bicycle and pedestrian federation executive director calls this an historical event and the chance of a lifetime. Supporters of the trail say rock island communities across the state including Eldon, Versailles, Meta and Cole Camp have been vital to this effort.
