Over fifty people were on hand Monday night in Eldon for a meeting about the Rock Island line and its planned development as a recreational trail. Two State Representatives along with community leaders and representatives from the national park service were also present for the meeting. One of those who spoke was Daphney Partridge, a member of the new Eldon Municipal Rock Island trail advisory committee. She says the trail is generating a lot of excitement in the area.
During the meeting, it was reported that it could take a minimum of 3 to 5 years before the line could be utilized as a recreational trail.
