Big news for the long anticipated Rocky Mount Sewer district. Calculations done this week now show that the project is going to cost significantly less than originally proposed. According to Engineer Stan Schultz from Schultz Surveying, the firm working on the project, bids for the construction project came in $200,000 under what was budgeted for creating the first phase of the project. For the past decade, the board and firm have been working to put together this system to provide sewer service on the north shore. Two lake area companies were awarded the contracts to build the project including Apperson Utility out of Eldon and Veterans Worldwide of Gravois Mills. The Rocky Mount Sewer District will serve about 1,900 homes in Morgan County.
