A handful of Lake Area cities are among 158 others, statewide, opting out of this weekend’s statewide “Back to School Sales Tax Holiday.” Officials in Osage Beach, Camdenton, Laurie, Eldon and St. Elizabeth are opting out of the weekend and will collect sales tax as normal on the qualifying items such as computers, clothing, various school supplies and other items declared exempt under the three-day shopping incentive holiday. Camden and Morgan counties also opted out of the shopping tax holiday which begins at 12:01-AM on Friday and goes through the end of Sunday.
