If you’ve recently bought some melon you may want to think twice before eating it. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have issued warnings to five Midwestern states, including Missouri, over possible salmonella contamination. People have reported sickness after eating pre-sliced melon and pre-made fruit salads. As of the latest update, 32 people have reported sickness in Michigan. The warning also applies for Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. Affected products in Missouri include pre-cut melon sold at Walmart and fruit salad with melon sold at Walmart, Jay C, or Payless stores. Only pre-cut melon is affected. Whole melon is still okay to eat.
