Last Saturday’s storms caused quite a bit of damage throughout Sunrise Beach and knocked out power for nearly 2,000 homes throughout the entire lake. Co-Mo Electric reports some Sunrise Beach residents didn’t get their power back until around 2 o’clock Tuesday morning. The Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District reports responding to numerous calls, with the worst of the damage occurring around American Legion Road. Chief Dennis Reilly reports numerous homes and power lines were damaged by falling trees. He says, however, they had no injuries reported, so the situation could have been a lot worse.
