Saturday was opening day for a Lake area tradition, Bennett Springs State park and the start of Trout Fishing Season. But, Fishermen weren’t just catching the fish; they were catching the snow and maybe a few colds. The key to opening day for the fishing season is catching the big Kahuana, or the biggest Trout to start the year off. Fishermen gather at the park using specific baits and tackle to try and get the bragging rights for 2015. This year however, right in the middle of the fishing event, snow started to fall and came down in rapid form by mid-afternoon. More than likely fishermen will remember this opening day as the start of winter rather than spring.
