SBFPD Cheif LaPlant Petitions Camden County Court To Help With Fire Board Issues

The Fire Chief in Sunrise Beach is petitioning the Circuit Court of Camden County to figure out how to move forward as the Fire Board seems to have run into a stale mate.

Director Bryan Layman resigned in June because he moved out of the district, but so far….the remaining Board of President Denise Dill, and Director Robert Hemen, have not agreed on how to fill Layman’s seat.

Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District chief Joseph LaPlant says in a statement that Hemen has stopped coming to board meetings, and that’s holding up budget concerns, including money for fire equipment.

LaPlant also says Hemen no longer communicates with the District email server.

The chief wants the Circuit Court to help figure out how to resolve the issue.
