Law enforcement are warning area residents that flood waters are not the only thing they need to watch out for right now. Scam artists who claim to be government or charity officials could be in the area wanting personal information. Officials say never give out this type of information to anyone you do not know. Scammers have also been known to sift through flood debris. Fake charities can also ask donors for flood relief donations. Floods like this can also attract contractors known as storm chasers who go door to door and offering flood repair work. Those with flood damage should consult with their insurance agent for a list of contractors. Anyone with questions is asked to call their local law enforcement agency.
