The United States Senate has unanimously passed a bill that will extend funding for groups that help victims of child abuse. The Victims of Child Abuse Act was sponsored by Missouri Senator Roy Blunt and Chris Coons from Delaware. The bill provides money for children’s advocacy centers that serve child victims and assist law enforcement agencies. Blunt says the program has resulted in faster filing of criminal charges, increased numbers of prosecutions, and a reduction in per-case costs. Similar legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives.
