Dairy farmers across the state and nationwide impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic could soon be receiving assistance.
In a letter signed by Missouri Republican Senators Roy Blunt and Josh Hawley, the U.S. Department of Agriculture is being urged to use agriculture assistance provisions in the CARES Act to provide stability to the dairy industry and to help prevent a collapse in farm milk prices.
Dairy farmers, nationwide, are at a standstill with excess product originally intended for the food service industry, now, with no channel to get their products to consumers.
There were 13 other senators, all Republicans, who signed onto the letter directed to the USDA.
