A program aimed at giving a group of elderly citizens in Missouri a tax break appears to be in the crosshairs of legislation being pushed in the state capitol. Specifically, the bill would eliminate a property tax rebate for seniors who rent instead of own. Watching the progress of the bill is Tom Kruckmeyer, from the Missouri Budget Project, who says eliminating the rebate would be a very unfortunate outcome for those seniors.
Kruckmeyer goes on to say it doesn’t make any sense, to him, to eliminate the property tax rebate for seniors who rent instead of own in Missouri. The program has had almost unanimous bipartisan support over the years.
