Unemployment in the state was down slightly in September, dropping by 1/10th of a percent from 3.9 to 3.8%. The Department of Economic Development says non-farm payroll jobs were down by 10,500 last month, with most of the reduction coming in local government. Accommodation and food services added 2500 jobs, while wholesale and retail added 3800 jobs. Overall job growth in the state is up by over 38,000 over a year ago. The state’s unemployment rate remained below the national rate for the 30th consecutive month.
