Seven offenders are headed to prison following recent court appearances in Morgan County. According to County Prosecutor Dustin Dunklee, Franklin Smoot received three prison sentences including 15 years for distribution of a controlled substance and 10 years for felony drug possession with preference for a 120 day institutional treatment center. Gloria Collins received 7 years for felony endangering the welfare of a child, James Eddy received 4 years on the same charge, while Melissa Farris was sentenced to 7 years for felony possession of a controlled substance with preference for a 120 day institutional treatment center. William Roberts was sentenced to 10 years felony possession of a controlled substance persistent offender. He is eligible for placement in a long term treatment center and must serve 12 months before being eligible for probation; and Christopher Knight was ordered to serve 120 days for probation violation for failure to register as a sex offender, which is a class D felony.
