Local fire departments have had their hands full this week fighting several fires in the area. On Wednesday (2) Mid-County personnel responded to a blaze on Valley Spring Road off of State Route “D”. Crews found a detached garage fully involved and the fire had also spread to the adjacent woods and ignited a large dump truck and pickup truck. A residence adjacent to the garage suffered exterior wall damage. On Tuesday (1), firefighters were dispatched to a fully involved residential structure fire in the 3000 block of State Route “E”. The house was a total loss. On Monday (29), the Mid-County Fire District responded to seven natural cover fires, one blaze consumed 30 acres on Jema Road. Other locations include Whispering Valley Road where 25 acres were burned, Wymill Road, less than one acre consumed, Kingfisher Road, also less than an acre, 5 acres were burned and a residence suffered minor damage on State Route “BB” south of Montreal. Thankfully, there were no injuries in any of the fires this week.
