With the recent snow we’ve received, tornadoes are not exactly at the forefront of the minds of most lake area residents. However, in advance of severe weather season in Missouri, the national weather service, the state emergency management agency and local emergency managers are promoting severe weather awareness week march 2nd thru the 6th. This week’s campaign is geared toward helping residents be prepared for dangerous tornadoes, severe storms, lightning and flooding. The statewide tornado drill is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) at 1:30 pm. Tomorrow, outdoor warning sirens and weather alert radios across the state will sound, signaling the beginning of the drill indicating residents should practice taking shelter.
