Four arrests have been made following a joint sex offender compliance operation conducted by the Maries County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshal’s office. Sheriff Chris Heitman says one of those arrested was Garlan l. Weyand who is a persistent sex offender. Weyand is being charged with felony failure to register as a sex offender because he provided false information to law enforcement about where he lived. Heitman says Weyand has an extensive criminal history and may be sentenced to no less than ten years and up to 30 years in prison.
