If the first month of being in office is any indication, it’s going to be a busy first term for Camden County Sheriff Tony Helms. Helms says, since officially assuming the office on January 1st, his top priority has been focusing on making sure he has a top notch sheriff’s department serving and protecting the community.
Part of the changes, according to Sheriff Helms, included placing Community Resource Officers in the Stoutland, Macks Creek and Climax Springs areas. Helms goes on to say a couple other changes include encouraging his deputies to more proactive by focusing on crime prevention versus being reactive waiting for it to happen, and having an open door policy for the citizens of Camden County.
