The business community around the lake is in the holiday spirit. Donations are pouring into local law enforcement agencies to help them provide a great Christmas for kids in need. Miller County Sheriff Louie Gregoire says the response to their Shop with a Deputy program has been outstanding.
In Camden County, several businesses have written checks for Sheriff Tony Helms’ Shop with a Cop program as well. Both sheriff’s offices work with other agencies to take kids shopping for the holiday. It’s something Gregoire says they always look forward to.
If you’re interested in helping with either program, just call their offices.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s office is raising funds for their annual Christmas outreach program. It’s similar to the “shop with a cop” program held in other communities, but it’s also a little different. Sheriff Norman Dills says that rather than just providing toys for kids, they use the funds they raise to adopt some area families. They provide the food needed for a complete Christmas dinner for the family as well as toys for the children. You even have a chance to win a prize yourself by helping them out. They’re holding a raffle drawing featuring a Ruger Predator Creedmoor rifle or a Savage HMR with a scope. You can also win an RTIC 20 quart cooler. To purchase raffle tickets or to inquire about donations to the “Cops for Kids Christmas,” contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
