Years of hard work cleaning up the Lake of the Ozarks is paying off. Annual volunteer efforts held in both the spring and fall have taken a huge chunk of debris and garbage off the shoreline. The cleanup events also raise awareness, which, over time, has also helped reduce the amount of waste for volunteers to deal with. Ameren’s Jeff Green says they still need to keep doing it, but the good news is that the amount of debris continues to decline.
There’s still time to participate in this year’s fall cleanup. You can join an existing volunteer group, or cleanup your own area of shoreline and let Ameren know where they can pick up your bags.
