The Adopt-the-Shoreline organization at the Lake of the Ozarks is reminding area residents, businesses and community organizations that the 2012 Spring Shoreline Cleanup begins this weekend and continues through April 15th. Bryan Vance, coordinator of Adopt-the-Shoreline, is encouraging all member groups to participate. In addition to Adopt-the-Shoreline members, volunteers are encouraged to come out and help make the event a success. For individuals cleaning coves, Vance offers the following guidelines:
· Remove only the man-made debris collected on the shoreline.
· Natural debris such as brush, leaves or trees will not be accepted.
· If you have stored old non-encapsulated flotation material, please do not ask Adopt-the-Shoreline volunteers to remove the old foam. As a dock owner, you are responsible for disposing of the old dock flotation materials.
· Household trash will not be removed. Only shoreline trash will be accepted.
· Stack all trash for pickup in a location easily reachable by pontoons or barges.
· For the removal of trash collected, notify the Adopt-the-Shoreline office at 365-9252.
