Road crews were out overnight, as winter weather returned to the Lake area. Slick roads were causing crashes.
Three people were injured in an accident in Miller County, late Saturday afternoon on Highway 42 east of Hawken Cemetery Road. According to the Highway Patrol, a car driven by 19-year-old Jesse Pierce of Crocker slid across the center line, traveled off the left side of the road, struck an embankment and overturned. Pierce suffered only minor injuries but two passengers were more seriously hurt. They were identified as 19-year-old David Faulkner and 19-year-old John Earp, both of Iberia. All three were taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach; Earp was lAter transferred to University Hospital in Columbia.
In Camden County, a driver escaped with only minor injuries, but her Jeep Grand Cherokee was totaled when it skidded off the road, struck a sign and overturned. The accident happened Saturday evening on Highway 7 north of Route T. The Highway Patrol says the driver, 19-year-old Chelsie Ensore of Laurie was treated at Lake Regional Hospital.
