An East Chicago, Indiana man is in critical condition and his son is dead after an incident Sunday at the Spa Shiki pool at the Lodge of Four Seasons. According to the Camden County Sheriff’s Department, 21-year old Ali Shaltaf went into the four foot deep portion of the pool just after noon. The young man, who could not swim, then went into the eight foot end of the pool and sank to the bottom. Ali’s father, 47-year old Khalid, who also could not swim, entered the deep end to try and rescue his son. Both men struggled for about three minutes before submerging. Authorities say both men were alone in the pool area and were submerged for eighteen minutes before being pulled out by spa staff and guests.
