Some residents in Camden County will be asked to pay a little more in taxes to support firefighters. The Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District has announced that they’ll be placing a tax levy increase on the ballot in August. They’re seeking a 25-cent increase, which they say translates to a cup of coffee a month based on a home valued at $100,000. The Southwest District serves 152 square miles with approximately 900 homes and businesses and 3300 residents. Their operating budget is $60,000 a year, which has not increased since the district was formed nearly 20 years ago. You can learn more about their ballot request by visiting www.swfpd.net/tax.
