The Southwest Camden County Fire Protection District has been awarded two grants which will, likely, come in very handy in the near future. That’s according to Division Chief Josh Kingston who says the first grant, in the amount of $6000, is 50-50 from the Missouri Department of Conservation. Supplies to be purchased with that grant include: two chainsaws, two blowers, six chest harnesses, six wildland packs and five sets of wildland pants and tops. The second grant, in the amount of $3400, is part of the HerosFund Grant and will be used to purchase turnout gear. Kingston goes on to say the grants are very competitive and will go a long way to help the district which has not raised its taxes in nearly 20 years.
