Recently the idea of starting a special road district within the second district of Camden County has come up. Road and Bridge Administrator Lee Schuman believes it could help his department, which struggles to upgrade the county roads because of the budget they operate on each year.
In order to get a special road district, a petition would have to be started. It would then need signatures from majority landowners in the district. The signature count would not be based upon the number of signatures, but rather the amount of land the residents that sign cover within the district. After receiving enough signatures, the proposal would then be placed on the ballot.
