The bill at the center of attention for the special session has passed the House. The bill, which will allow the Public Service Commission to set a specialized rate between Ameren and a southeast Missouri steel mill, is estimated to bring nearly 500 jobs to New Madrid County if it passes. The bill is now headed to the Senate, which failed to pass the original bill during regular session. However, slight changes have been made to the new bill that have House members optimistic that it will pass with very little issue.
