Many people believe the Senate has been somewhat unproductive this session and the last day of session might give an indication of why that is the case. Currently, Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal, a Democrat from St. Louis County, is on the floor reading and says she will not stop the filibuster until the end of session. This comes after her bill proposing buyouts for homes near the West Lake Landfill in northern St. Louis County was voted down. It’s been discovered that radiation contamination is a major health concern in that area that those residents were unaware of. As of right now, no one in the Senate is stopping her efforts to end the session with no further actions.
