It took almost seven hours but the Highway Patrol and the Benton County sheriff’s office were able to end a standoff that started Thursday afternoon. According to Sheriff Rick Fajen, officers were called out to a home just east of Warsaw near the State fish hatchery on reports of shots fired from a domestic dispute. At the time, 48 year old Mark Lomax refused to leave his home. Police at one point attempted to use tear gas to get Lomax out, however, Lomax began to fire again sending officers back into the field. Finally Lomax surrendered peacefully without bringing harm to anyone. He faces charges of armed criminal action and domestic assault and is currently being held in the Benton County jail on a bond of $100,000.
