Over the course of the last six weeks, over 1,000 Missouri residents have reached out to the auditor’s office because they had issues with their tax returns or never received their refunds. Nicole Galloway has called for the director of the Department of Revenue to address this issue immediately, stating that people are reporting long wait times, disconnected calls, an inability to speak to a representative for information, or receipt of their refund after the 45 day deadline without interest, which is required by state law. The Department of Revenue is currently undergoing an audit by Galloway’s Office, which has already caused controversy as she issued a subpoena against the office for specific information regarding that audit.
