It was a deadly holiday weekend on the state’s roadways, but the Highway Patrol reports that it was much safer than a year ago. Eight people died in traffic accidents across Missouri over the four-day counting period. That includes one fatality under the jurisdiction of Troop F. The patrol investigated 317 crashes, resulting in 112 injuries. 136 people were arrested for DWI and 128 for drug charges.
In Troop F’s jurisdiction, there were 50 accidents with eight injuries and one fatality, 11 DWI arrests, and 12 drug arrests.
On the state’s waterways there were six crashes with three injuries. One person drowned over the holiday weekend. 17 were arrested for BWI and 35 on drug charges.
Last year 20 people died in traffic accidents. The reporting period began at 6pm Friday and lasted through all of Monday.
