There are new developments in Governor Jay Nixon’s plan should the ebola virus ever reach Missouri. Friday the Governor designated the state public health laboratory as an ebola testing laboratory. Nixon also plans to release $3.3 million dollars to public health agencies in order to respond to threats of communicable diseases including ebola. Nixon says it’s important to note Missouri has not yet had a case of ebola. At the local level, the sunrise beach fire protection district is also taking precautionary steps to be prepared if ebola were to ever make its way to the lake area including training and the purchase of equipment.
