With the military considering 5,400 military and civilian job cuts at Fort Leonard Wood, some are now calling for an advocate to represent the state and its interests. State representative Charlie Davis has filed legislation that would set up an office for a military advocate that would travel to the pentagon and work with the army on behalf of Missouri and its military bases. The Governor would appoint someone to the position and who would then be subject to senate confirmation. Recently over two thousand people attended a listening session at Fort Leonard Wood to voice their opposition to military’s proposed job cuts as it would significantly impact the area economy.
