Missouri’s unemployment rate remains at an 18-year low. The latest figures released from the Department of Economic Development showed a 1/10th of a percent drop for August, down to 3.3%. That stretches to 40 months the streak of the state unemployment rate falling below the national rate. The private sector grew by 2700 jobs over the month, paced by an additional 4,000 jobs in professional and business services. The state lost 1800 jobs in trade, transportation, and utilities and another 1500 manufacturing jobs in August.
